Press Release :

THREE WKN WORLD TITLE BOUTS

Former two time World Champion Gabriel Varga of Victoria held both the ISKA amateur Super Lightweight and Light Welterweight World titles. Turning professional a year and a half ago and just off his January victory against the Chinese Champion in Shangdon, China, Gabriel will be fighting Yohan Havan from France for the WKN Professional World Kickboxing title. This will be the greatest challenge of Gabriel’s fighting career as Yohan brings his 52-2 record to North America for the first time.

Chase Ingalls of Campbell River and Tina Derix of Victoria will be fighting their European opponents for amateur WKN World titles.

12 other talented Island fighters round out the card on Quest for the Titles 7th event here on the Island since January 2009.

The QUEST FOR THE TITLE event is staying true to its promise of flying in the best from around the world to challenge our talented and deserving Island fighters.

Not since Vancouver Islands glory days of famous former World champions such as Golden Boy Donny LaLonde, Gordy Racette, Stan Peterec and Mickey Griffith has the Island seen this kind of fighting talent. We have a new crop of World class fighters right here on the Island.

It is amazing how much the Island’s former world class fighters are giving back to the fight community. Acting as officials on this event, Robin Webb with his 162-2 ring secord, tirelessly referee’s many events on the Island while former World Champion Mickey Griffith has acted as a judge on every Quest for the Title event.

Come out and support our Island fighters in their Quest for the Title, March 12th at the Shell Beach Rec Centre, 3949 Shell Beach, Ladysmith.

Tickets are $40-$75 and are available at Sports Traders in Victoria, Tomari Martial arts in Nanaimo or Charge in Nanaimo at

250-751-0593.

Doors open at 6pm and fights start at 7pm.
