Special report by Island Sports News, Vancouver Island – story by Gary Quinn

The Quest for the Title brought upon eight quality kickboxing fights. The adrenaline and tension of the fighters could be felt amongst the fans packed in the Shell Beach Rec Centre for a long evening of hotly contested battles.
The headlining fight of the evening was local fighter 25 yr. old 5’11, 142lb Gabriel Varga battling 24 yr. old 6’1′ Yoan Ha Van from France for the WKN professional lightweight championship.

Both fighters seemed equally poised in their abilities during the five three minute rounds. With this much on the line, neither Varga or Ha Van were showing any weakness in their defence.
A more imposing muscular Varga managed to score more points in the judges score card with relentless knees and full body takedowns resulting in Ha Van seeing the blue canvas on more than one occasion.

As the final bell rang, both fighters went to their corners awaiting the verdict from judges Mickey Griffen and Greg Turnbull.
It was unanimous decision on both score cards with Gabriel Varga victorious.
“I really wanted a KO in this fight” said Varga “with Yohan’s record of 52-2 what else can I expect!”
So what is next for the enduring fighting career of our local fighting sensation Gabriel Varga one might ask? ” I’m hoping for a rematch with Yohan, but this time in France and then go onto accumulating some more world titles” stated Varga.
