WKN Top Team: Federico Roma
Two-style WKN Super Bantamweight Champion Federico Roma of Argentina takes on two-division RISE champion Tenshin Nasukawa of Japan. The pair battles it out in one of the quarter-finals of RISE 58 kg tournament held on March 10 at Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.
Coached by Cristian Bosch at Dojo Serpientes in Buenos Aires, Federico Roma (63-4-1, 31 KO) is the World Kickboxing Network Super Bantamweight champion in two styles, oriental kickboxing (K-1 rules) and Muay Thai. His resume includes the wins against Tomasz Makowski, Tristan Gaetano, Nestor Machado, Israel Rangel, among others. Battling out in Japan he represents Argentinian branch of WKN Top Team coordinated by Jorge Acero Cali and Fernando Munoz.
Tenshin Nasukawa (28-0, 22 KO kickboxing, 4-0 MMA) is RISE featherweight and bantamweight champion. He was last seen in action on New Year’s Eve when he went up against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition bout held in Saitama. The bout ended in the first round with boxing legend scoring the TKO. With the “no contest” rule in place “Teppen” remained formally undefeated. Post-fight he was called out by former UFC two division champion Conor McGregor for an exhibition MMA bout.
The Tenshin Nasukawa vs. Federico Roma fight is scheduled for three rounds in oriental kickboxing. The winner of the bout advances to semi-final facing off one of six other competitors partaking in the tournament.
The collaboration between World Kickboxing Network and Japanese promotion RISE started in 2013 when Australian Danial “Mini T” Williams faced Dyki Miyagi at RISE 94. Since then numerous Japanese kickboxers have taken part in WKN events throughout Europe, while the representatives of WKN Top Team have competed at RISE events in Japan.
