Steve Smoger Inductee into the Atlantic City Hall of Fame class of 2017

The best boxing referee in the world Steve Smoger is one of the first 24 inductees into the Atlantic City Hall of Fame (ACBHOF) class of 2017.

Steve Smoger, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA, is an International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) Referee class 2015. He is also a qualified World Kickboxing Network international referee and the boxing referee during three seasons of the Bigger’s Better Boxing TV show live on Eurosport network.

Steve Smoger is an inductee into the ACBHOF that is holding its first annual inaugural induction on Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28 at The Claridge hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The city that is once known as the busiest boxing city in the United States.

“For me personally, it’s a great honor. I began my refereeing career in Atlantic City in the early 1980’s,” Smoger told

“At that time, Atlantic City was the center of the professional boxing world. I had the benefit to work and learn from the very best boxing officials in the world.”

“Officiating in Atlantic City provided me the opportunity to hone my skills in the ring. Atlantic City was my home base and from there I was fortunate to be able to officiate the great sport of professional boxing around the World.”

Inductees into the ACBHOF class of 2017 are named in six categories.

Fighter inductees: Mike Tyson, Arturo Gatti, Levander Johnson, Mike Rossman, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Dwight Muhammad Quai, Micheal Spinks, and Larry Holmes.

Trainer and cutman inductees: Lou Duva, Mike Hall Sr., and Bill Johnson.

Promoter, manager, advisor, matchmaker, and ring announcer inductees: Don King, Frank Gelb, Don Elbaum, and Russell Peltz.

Commission judges, doctors, and referees inductees: Larry Hazzard Sr., Steve Smoger, and Dr. Frank Dougett.

Media indcutees: Bert Sugar, Dave Bontempo, and Jack Obermayer.

Special coordinator inductees: Ken Cordon, Bob Lee, and Dennis Gomes.
